Diamond Platnumz: I paid deposit for Rolls Royce, I was also to buy a private jet then came Covid-19

Diamond Platnumz would have been the first musician from East Africa to own a private jet were it not for Coronavirus pandemic.

The Bongo singer spoke about his plans to buy a private jet during an in interview on Wasafi FM on January 28th.

Diamond said he had planned to buy a jet then Covid-19 came and he was forced to shelve his plan because it didn’t make economic sense to have a jet yet nearly all countries had banned public gathering meaning he could travel abroad to perform.

“Sikudanganyi isije kawa swala ya Corona nlikua nataka mwaka huu ikifika nshanunua. Mambo ya Corona ikaingiliana alafu ilipofika hapo nkasema nanunua private jet alafu nazunguka nayo kuenda wapi,” said Diamond.

Diamond revealed that from his market research he discovered that he could buy a private jet for $4.5 million/Ksh 495 million, an amount that is well within his reach.

The Bongo singer also said that he had deposited £ 10,000/Ksh 1.5 million to reserved a Rolls Royce he was intending to buy before Covid-19 struck.

Diamond said he was to spend a total of Tsh 650 million/Ksh 30 million to buy and import the Rolls Royce to Tanzania.

He was however forced to cancelled the plan because it didn’t make sense to him to spend that amount when he his income was dwindling as a result of the pandemic. Diamond instead opted to use the  money to buy a high-end hotel in Dar es Salaam.

Diamond opened up about his sources of income saying that he makes Ksh 10 million from  endorsements every month.  Precisely stating that he makes Tsh 222,666,000 /Ksh 10,581,884 monthly from endorsement deals.
