Diamond Platnumz is boycotting Tanzanian award ceremonies saying he is no longer interested and he is not in the run to win one because of what organizers did to him.

The Bongo singer opened up about his woes while speaking during an interview with BBC Swahili in London where he is promoting his new studio EP dubbed ‘First Of All’ (FOA).

Diamond Platnumz noted that he has no desire to compete with local artistes in Tanzanian award ceremonies as his ambition is to go international.

The Bongo singer further explained that he lost faith in local Tanzanian award ceremonies as organizers denied him his prize and awarded underserving musicians.

Diamond Platnumz claims he was unfairly pitted against his colleagues despite his accomplishments.

He made it clear that he will continue to boycott local Tanzanian award ceremonies for the foreseeable future.

“Sikua bado na imani na tuzo. Tuzo za Tanzania zilikufa sababu yangu mimi nilinyimwa tuzo wakapea watu wengine ambayo mimi nilistahili. Hizi zinazokuja mpya naziamini vipi? Lazima nizitazame kwanza nione zina uhalisia ama vipi,” he said.

This loosely translates to; “I still have no faith in the current award shows. Tanzania award shows died when they failed to honour me. I deserved the award but they gave it to someone else. I need to take my time to observe the new shows to see if they are authentic or not.”.
