Diamond Platnumz and Alikiba’s beef dates back to early 2012. The two Tanzanian singers still don’t get along to date even though they downplay their beef.
The Wasafi boss recently spoke about the genesis of his beef with Alikiba which contradicted an earlier version that his nemesis had given.
In a video shared by Mseto East Africa, Diamond blamed Tanzanian media for creating the beef between him and Alikiba.
He claimed that Tanzanians like it when musicians’ careers die. He said that his countrymen and women create beefs among artistes when they see a musician is making it in the industry.
“Kitu ambacho kilinisikitisha sana ni kwanini watu watengeneze hasa media za kutoka nyumbani Tanzania kuonyesha mimi nina tatizo na Ali Kiba. Mimi sina tatizo na Ali. (I was surprised to see them creating stories that made us look as if we were beefing. I have no bad blood with Ali Kiba.),” Diamond said.
He added that;
“Ukiwa msanii hana akili, utagombana na kila mtu, lakini mimi naelewa media na baadhi ya managers wanafanya kazi na wasanii wao, wanafikiri ukimchonganisha mtu na msanii ndio unampandisha kumbe mwanzo unaua soko la nyumbani.”
Back in June 2018, Alikiba disclosed that he fell out with Diamond when he approached him and requested to be featured in his hit song ‘Single Boy’.
Alikiba dropped ‘Single Boy’ featuring Lady JayDee in May 2012. The song’s audio was however leaked before the video had been released.
Speaking in an interview with Kwanza TV in 2018, Kiba said that Diamond approached him and requested to be featured in the song after the audio was leaked. He further claims that the Wasafi boss disrespected him when he turned him down.
“There was a day he wronged me. I always support every artist in Tanzania and I don’t deny he (Diamond) sings well. Some new fans who don’t know the story will obviously side with Diamond, I never thought of doing a song with him but he called me after the song ‘Single Boy’ leaked. I had already collaborated with Lady JayDee on the song. He told me he would like to feature on the song, and that he already had a concept for the music video. But I told him I preferred the song to have a single boy single girl theme rather than two male artists,” Alikiba explained.
Alikiba claims that Diamond went on to tell bloggers that he (Alikiba) had deleted his (Diamond’s) verse from the song. Kiba says that he confronting Diamond about the issue and he denied going to blogs with the false reports.
“Around a week later, I hear from blogs that I had deleted his verses from the song when they were never there,” said Alikiba.
The issue is what said to have sparked the beef between Diamond and Alikiba
