Believe it or not, Diamond Platnumz was to settle down in marriage with a Burundian woman in September 2020.
Wedding plans were at an advance stage, dowry payment and wedding arrangements had been finalised with everything being done in uttermost secrecy.
Former Dar es Salaam regional commander Paul Makonda, who is close to Diamond’s family, had been tasked to lead the dowry negotiations while Wasafi Events and Diamond Lifestyle Manager, Hellen Kazimoto is in charge of the wedding plans.
Diamond’s private Muslim wedding had been slated for September then on October the Bongo singer was to make his marriage public.

But as fate would have it, the wedding never happened. Diamond revealed why he cancelled his wedding in an interview with Wasafi FM on January 28th 2021.
Diamond explained that he couldn’t settle down in marriage with the Burundian woman because she is a control freak and a VERY jealous woman.
“Kiukweli nlikua naoa mwaka jana, nafikiri kabla ya uchaguzi. Nlikuanishapanga lakini sasa kilichotokea kiukweli ule mwenzangu alikua na wivu sana. Nakumbuka siku moja nilienda katika shuguli ya Zuchu nikacheza pale na Wema, nkacheza na Hamisa… aaahhh akaanzisha mtiti “Mdanganyi mkubwa, Instagram unaenda kufanya vitu gani, unanidhalilisha”… Nkaona hii ntaweza kweli,” said Diamond.
Translation:
“The truth is that I was to marry last year before election. Everything was in place but the truth is my bride to be was very jealous. I remember one day I attended Zuchu’s function and I dance with Wema and Hamisha then she started this drama… ‘Liar, what are you doing on Instagram, you are humiliating me’. And I figured out I couldn’t settle down with her. ”
Diamond nonetheless stressed that the Burundian woman sincerely loved him and that he was a very good woman character-wise.
The Bongo singer further revealed that he pursued the Burundian beauty from 2013 up to 2020 when she agreed to date him.
“Kiukweli alikua ananipenda, alikua mzuri sana. Yani saaaaaana. Alafu nlianza kumtongoza 2013 akanikubalia mwaka jana. Akanizungusha sana,” said Diamond.
Speaking on the woman’s roots, Diamond said she is of Burundian, Tanzanian and Arabic origin. He explained that her father is Burundian while her mother is Arab Tanzanian.
“Anamataifa matatu, kwanza Mwarabu alafu Burundi alafu Tanzania. Mamake nafikiri ni Mwarabu wa Tanzania babake Mburundi.”
