Tragedy has struck the entertainment world as comedian and content creator Fred Omondi was killed in a horrific road accident in Nairobi early Saturday morning, June 15, 2024.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by Fred’s brother, Eric Omondi, who took to social media to share a gut-wrenching tribute.
“Go well brother💔🕊 @fredomondi_,” Eric posted, along with a poignant video of the two brothers.
Fellow comedian Onjiri spoke to the media outside Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, revealing the shocking details.
Onjiri explained that he first heard about the accident through their WhatsApp group and immediately rushed to the hospital.
“I heard the news in our group chat and was told Fred might be at Mama Lucy. I came here as fast as I could, and it was confirmed he was involved in an accident,” Onjiri shared.
The exact circumstances surrounding the accident remain a mystery.
According to Onjiri, a doctor at the hospital indicated that Fred had sustained severe injuries, hinting that it might have been a hit-and-run or a motorcycle crash.
“The doctor said it was a fatal impact, possibly from a hit-and-run or a motorcycle accident,” Onjiri explained.
Meanwhile former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko provided more details on the tragic incident.
In a statement, Sonko revealed that Fred Omondi was struck by a Forward Travellers Sacco matatu while riding on a boda boda along Kangundo Road.
“I’ve learned with sadness of the sudden passing of Fred Omondi, brother to comedian Eric Omondi, following a road accident along Kangundo Road.
“Fred was reportedly hit by a Forward Travellers matatu early this morning while on a boda boda and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mama Lucy Hospital,” Sonko wrote.
