Daddy Owen says he has many ways to make money apart from singing, insisting that he will never stop singing gospel songs no matter what.
In an interview on Thursday 13, Owen explained that he was called and received the call to preach the gospel before his performance.
The 40-year-old artiste is one of the few remaining gospel musicians since the withdrawal of the likes of Willy Paul, Bahati and others who delved into secular songs that they felt would give them more fame and money.
“I will not stop singing gospel songs. I have many ways to earn money. I was called to be an artist before I started singing. I never want to sing Sekula songs like some of my colleagues who sang gospel at one time changed,” explained Daddy Owen.
The gospel musician further said he has not been releasing new songs be due to the many responsibilities and daily activities that face him, while saying that he is preparing a collaboration with many gospel artistes.
“I have been busy. Defending people’s rights, defending the rights of disabled children and many other activities that have faced me is the reason why you have not heard from me for a while, but in the future I will rule the airwaves as usual,” he added.
Apart from artistry, the singer has been at the forefront of defending human rights, while prioritizing the rights of children living with disabilities in the country, explaining that they are also human beings like others, and have the right to receive quality education.
Owen, also strongly criticized the action of the security officers to use excessive force in the July 12 protest, which left at least 10 people dead, claiming that it is a violation of human rights.
“Shooting someone to death is totally inappropriate. That is injustice, that is a violation of human rights. Instead, the security officers would arrest the suspected protesters and take them to the police station, so that they can be brought to court so that the court can make a decision,” he said.
