The country is currently following up on the arrest of the controversial blogger and YouTuber, Edgar Obare after he was arrested by the DCI.
Edgar Obare who is allegedly held at the Gigiri Police Station shared with the world that he was not fine where he was currently getting held and that his bail has been denied.
“Am in Gigiri police station still awaiting interrogation thank you so much for the supporting messages,” Obare wrote on Instagram after the news of his arrest broke out on social media.
“I am not safe and I don’t feel safe where am being held, I have struggled with getting bail but now I understand why it’s being denied. Please support ” later on added on social media platforms.
Following Obare’s arrest, Cyprian Nyakundi who is also a blogger and a businessman gave his two cents on the matter after Edgar Obare’s arrest sparked public interest.
“The arrest of Edgar Obare is wrong. The DCI is misusing the Cyber Crime act to bully bloggers as criminals walk free. When I called on Bloggers to challenge the law, they refused and said the law is for Nyakundi and Alai.” Nyakundi said in part.
“Now they are coming for entertainment bloggers and soon it will be fashion bloggers etc.”
Cyprian Nyakundi believes that Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho is involved with Edgar Obare’s woes alleging that the governor is using the DCI to punish Obare.
15 hilarious responses men are now giving ladies after Cyprian Nyakundi told them to resist
“We cannot solve civil matters with guns and DCI summons and Joho is wrong to push DCI to “Punish” a blogger. DCI doesn’t have the capacity to solve defamation or civil matters! We have been there and we know well…”
Nyakundi also opened up about having more than 15 criminal cases that are still pending in court.
He also opened up about how Joho sent him the defunct police force, flying squad back in 2017 after his expose’.
“In 2017, Joho sent the disbanded flying squad to arrest me after I exposed how he was looting via Njuca construction, and what Obare is going through is just gimmicks meant to make Joho happy.
For instance, I have more than 15 criminal cases pertaining to my online activities pending in court because the cases are too weak to proceed, some pending since 2015!”
Cyprian Nyakundi disclosed that already filed for an appeal challenging all the cases leveled against him.
“Judiciary and DPP must review some of these cases because it is an abuse of the court process.
In the meantime, I filed an appeal challenging the retrogressive law seeking conservatory orders against the law as the matter is heard.”
