Political leaders are to blame for the rampant school fires.
Ahadi Kenya Trust CEO Stanley Kamau has said politicians should take the blame for the unrests in schools as they have failed to be good role models.
Kamau said students set their dormitories on fire after seeing political leaders and their supporters engaging in unlawful protests to air their grievances.
The were six school fires across the country in just about one week.
“It is sad to see that leaders who participate in demonstrations without following laws are accusing and talking ill of students involved in burning dormitories… They learn from what we do and how we solve our grievances,”said Kimani.
He said the students picked the violent ways of solving grievances from the leaders in the society.
Similar remarks had earlier been made by National Cohesion and Integration Commission Chairman Francis Ole Kaparo. Kaparo told politicians to blame themselves.
“Stop blaming students when they burn dormitories; blame yourselves,” said Kaparo as quoted by The Star.
Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga, his co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula led several anti-IEBC demonstrations in the country in May and June.
It looks like students are reading the script from these leaders, where instead of engaging in dialogue, they opt for demos and protests.
