The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord ) has named its representatives to the national dialogue they have been calling for over the reconstituting of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) with Jubilee Alliance Party team led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto.
The 5 are senators James Orengo and Johnstone Muthama, MPs Eseli Simiyu, Mishi Mboko and Junet Mohammed. The joint secretaries picked are Paul Mwangi and Grace Katasi.
CORD had picked Balambala MP Abdikadir Mohammed as one of the representatives but later replaced him with Junet Mohammed due to unforeseen circumstances and pressing parliamentary duties.
Raila Odinga and the CORD team visit to state house might have been for the luncheon apparently. State House has issued a statement saying President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto did not agree to what CORD is preaching out here, that they would have dialogue. They reportedly insist that CORD must use the legal channels as stipulated in the constitution saying going against it would see Kenyans accuse the government of not respecting the law.
The statement issued reads in part,“No such agreement was struck, as it would have been inconsistent with President Kenyatta’s stand on the subject, which is that any discussions on the IEBC or any other constitutional body must be done within confines of the law,”.
CORD says,if this fails, they will resume their protests every Monday of the week until they oust IEBC.
This begs one to wonder?
Who’s fooling who on this IEBC issue? Is it President Uhuru Kenyatta or Raila Odinga?
