Veteran rapper Colonel Mustapha set tongues wagging after he was seen working at a construction site as mtu wa mkono (handyman).

The rapper has been off the grid for over a year only making headlines after a video of him working at a building construction site went viral.

The video shows Colonel Mustapha mixing concrete and carrying building blocks to where they were being used to construct the building’s wall.

Speaking during an interview with Ankali Ray on Milele FM, Mustafa confirmed that it was indeed him who was working at the construction site.

“Ni kweli ule ni wewe?” Ankali asked.

“Yeah bro,” Mustafa replied.

“Kitu gani kinaendelea Colonel?” Ankali probed further.

Mustafa said that life was just hard, adding that he tried as much hiding the fact that he was working as a construction worker.

“Ni Maisha tu. Maisha imekua ngumu.Kwa kifupi tu ni shuguli nimekua nimeifanya kwa muda na nilikua nimeificha sana,” he said.

“Hii si kiki? (this is not clout chasing?) Ankali asked.

Mustafa revealed that he was forced to work as a construction worker because his mother was diagnosed with cancer and her treatment was very expensive.

The veteran rapper disclosed that his mother is suffering from lymphoma cancer.

“Hii ni kitu imenifanyikia. Mamangu amekua mgonjwa cancer sasa hio ndo ikachangia sana sasa ndo naenda kupiga kibarua sababu pesa inaenda sana sasa niweze kumsaidia. Alikua na lymphoma,” he said.

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the body’s germ-fighting network. The lymphatic system includes the lymph nodes (lymph glands), spleen, thymus gland and bone marrow. Lymphoma can affect all those areas as well as other organs throughout the body.
