Digital creator Ciru Muriuki has delivered a refreshingly raw and honest account of her battle with middle-age weight gain, revealing she has turned to a medical weight loss injection to “quiet the noise” of constant food cravings.

In a candid interview with BBC Africa News on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the 43-year-old broadcaster detailed how her body began to “fail” her as her metabolism slowed—leaving her joints aching and making a simple flight of stairs feel like an impossible marathon.

Ciru admitted that while shedding pounds felt effortless in her 20s, entering her 40s was a brutal wake-up call that had nothing to do with vanity and everything to do with her physical health.

“I looked at the mirror, and I did not like what I saw. My joints started to suffer, I was out of breath after climbing a few stairs, and that was kind of ridiculous because I’ve always been an active person,” she shared.

Perhaps the most startling revelation was the impact her weight had on her sleep—and her home life.

Ciru confessed that she began to snore so heavily it caused friction with her late fiancé Charles Ouda, who eventually had to record the noise to prove to her how severe the issue had become.

“I started to snore, snoring like a generator,” she admitted.

“My fiancé, God rest his soul, we started to fight when he told me that I was snoring, and I could not believe it, so he recorded it. That is the point where I decided I had to make a change.”

Turning to medical science, Ciru revealed she is currently on a six-month course of weight loss treatment—set to conclude in February 2026—which involves a weekly injection.

She credited the “jab” not just for the physical transformation, but for a total mental overhaul regarding her relationship with food.

The creator explained that for the first time in her adult life, the “constant trips to the fridge” and the persistent thoughts about her next snack have vanished—a phenomenon often described in medical circles as “quieting the food noise.”

“The injectable that I’m on has quieted all that noise… I am able to concentrate on things that matter rather than constantly craving food,” she explained.

Despite the medical assistance, Ciru insists the journey is about a permanent lifestyle shift. She noted that as she ages, she can no longer “drive fast past a fast-food joint” and expect her metabolism to cope.

By using the injection as a tool to reset her mindset, she hopes to ensure that even when the six-month course ends, the “generator” snoring and joint pain remain a thing of the past.

The broadcaster’s transparency has sparked a massive conversation online about the realities of metabolic changes in women over 40 and the increasing use of medical interventions to combat obesity-related health issues.
