Kenyan Trumpeter Christine Kamau explores Switzerland’s Jazz music scene on month-long research trip

Christine Kamau, a renowned trumpeter from Kenya, has exciting plans to embark on a journey to Switzerland in the upcoming month of April 2023.

The purpose of her month-long excursion is to conduct a comprehensive research on the jazz music scene infrastructure prevalent in Switzerland.

Her itinerary includes a visit to several Swiss cities such as Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Lucerne, and Bern, where she intends to explore various jazz clubs, jazz festivals, jazz music institutions and jam sessions.

Christine’s primary objective is to establish connections with the Swiss musicians and jazz industry practitioners she encounters during her research trip. She aims to initiate meaningful collaborations with them, with the ultimate goal of fostering a long-term intercultural musical partnership.

She is particularly excited about this opportunity to explore and engage with the Swiss jazz music industry, which has always piqued her interest.

It is noteworthy that Christine Kamau’s research trip to Switzerland is fully funded by The Swiss Arts Council, Pro Helvetia, which speaks volumes about the significance of her research and the recognition she has earned in the jazz music industry.
