Christina Shusho takes legal action against preacher who made insulting remarks about her failed marriage

Tanzanian gospel sensation Christina Shusho has initiated legal proceedings against fellow gospel singer and preacher Mbarikiwa Mwakipesile following his public comments regarding her marital status.

The controversy arose two weeks ago when Mwakipesile, while delivering a sermon in a church in Mbeya, Tanzania, criticized Shusho for her decision to end her marriage.

His remarks were prompted by a recent interview in which Shusho shared her reasons for parting ways with Pastor John Shusho.

In the interview with Jerusalem Church TV channel in Tanzania, Shusho explained, “Let me be open, I have never been fake and I don’t lie. The truth is it’s an assignment. There is nothing different other than that. The assignment God has given me this season cannot allow me to stay where I was. I had to leave to go fulfill the assignment.”

Dismissing Shusho’s explanation, Mwakipesile labeled it as a mere excuse and accused the singer of allowing fame to overshadow her marriage.

“I once preached here and said the most dangerous thing that can happen to a woman is her finding fame. She claims the reason to ditch her marriage is so she can focus on an ‘assignment’. What kind of assignment?” Mwakipesile questioned before his congregation.

Following the widespread circulation of the preacher’s comments, Christina Shusho has taken legal action against Mwakipesile and individuals engaging in cyberbullying.

“Those who are using my picture or my name to spread misinformation about my marriage and others who are insulting me, the issue is already being dealt with by my lawyers and I am hopeful they will face the full force of the law,” Shusho asserted.

Furthermore, the singer has pledged to provide clarity on the true reasons behind her decision to end her marriage, aiming to set the record straight amid the ongoing controversy.
