Chris Kaiga lands endorsement deal with Safaricom a year after calling them out

2 mins read

Chris Kaiga is laughing all the way to the bank after successfully landing his first endorsement deal with the number one telecommunication in Kenya, Safaricom.

Chris Kaiga has been picked by the company to promote their new campaign on data bundles, they even used his own composition to promote the newly launched campaign that features him.

This is the very first time Chris Kaiga gets to work with Safaricom in their campaigns, some would say that it was a long way coming and almost inevitable that the telecommunication company would work together with Kaiga.

Last September, Chris Kaiga took to social media to call out the conglomerate telecommunication giant for infringing his creative works accusive them of running a campaign dubbed ‘Zimenice Zimenice na Blaze by Safaricom’ and ‘SMS ziende Chain Chain’ without his exclusive authorization because he holds the registered Trademark and copyrights to the song.

“It’s high time @safaricomplc_ got called out for infringing on my creative works. Less than a year ago they ran a campaign dubbed “Zimenice Zimenice na blaze by Safaricom” which I hold the registered Trademark and copyrights to the song. Now they are running another campaign dubbed “SMS ziende Chain Chain”. Is this the arrogance of market dominance or just utter disrespect for Kenyan creatives? Something needs to be done!!😡😡
@SafaricomPLC #RespectIP #RespectKenyanArtists #RespectIntellectualProperty,” his tweet read.

It seems that the singer and the conglomerate are now in good books especially after he was given the honors and privilege of advertising their new rollout campaign on their TVC which he’s a part of.

Now everyone is happy.

Chris Kaiga has since deleted the aforementioned tweet.
