Choku Is Back With A Bang And 2016 Is Looking Up To Be Her Year. You Wait and See

Born Wambui Kimaru, Choku (Slang for Chocolate in Sheng) first made an impact in the Kenyan music scene after she released her single ‘Pole’ featuring popular Genge artiste Jua Cali. She later joined the Calif Records stable where she teamed up with fellow female rapper Rat-a-tat and the famous talented late Lady S to form the all-girl group called ‘Calif Angles’ and went on ahead to release their hit song ‘Kilio’. She then released the hit single which earned her a Kisima awards nomination.

She later recorded at the single “Vitu Na Like” with Rat-a tat produced by Maich Blaq & the Herbalist which also earned her a second Kisima award nomination.

After this, Choku decided to resume her solo music career.

In 2010 she went ahead and recorded and released the song “Slow Ride” which topped the Kenyan music charts for 15 weeks.

In 2012 Choku joined the formal workforce as a banker in a Kenyan bank where she served for three years.

Choku is not only a musician but also a business woman in her own right and has been involved in several business ventures over the years. She has also recently ventured into video production and successfully set up a video studio which has been operational for the past 6 months since July 2015.

Choku has made her come back with the song ‘Ndani Ndani’ which has been released well and is now embarking on releasing more singles in 2016 which is really turning to be her year.
