Chipukeezy explains why Kenyan comedy is on its deathbed

Chipukeezy has shared his opinion on why Kenyan comedy is not doing well at the moment.

According to the comedian, who has not been seen participating in comedy for a while, the art in this country is declining due to people especially fans not accepting the work done comedians.

Chipukeezy, who has been seen working closely with the government of William Ruto as an MC in various festivals, said that many comedians are trying to do comedy but Kenyans don’t see it as comedy, as many are used to identifying comedy from the angle of circus and puppets.

“Humor is a very powerful thing, but people usually don’t support it. If you put something good, nobody pays attention, people want a circus. That is why the art of comedy in the country is not growing. There are a lot of people, small children, you see they want to make people laugh but you see someone is not telling the story as you wish him to tell…” Chipukeezy said.

The comedian returned to the country last year after staying in the United States for a long time where he went to do a series of shows and he said what he learned from stage comedy in the United States and how it differs from here in Kenya.

“I went to the United States and I realized that everything I buy for stage comedy is free. I went with the text that I have planned with but there I found those who are in a different world. If I start telling my stories to them they will not understand me…” Chipukeezy said.
