Celine Dion made a shock appearance at the 2024 Grammys on Sunday, February 4, amid her battle with incurable stiff-person syndrome.
The 55-year-old Canadian singer walked onstage with the support of her eldest son 23-year-old Rene-Charles Angelil to cheers and a standing ovation and to present Album of the Year to singer Taylor Swift.
“Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world,” Celine Dion told the audience.
The legendary singer further stated that she was very proud to to present Album of the Year to singer Taylor Swift having won the same award 27 year ago.
“And now it gives me great joy to present a Grammy Award that two legends Diana Ross and Sting presented to me 27 years ago. These are the outstanding nominees for album of the year,” Celine Dion said.
Celine Dion has been battling with a neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome that has no cure.
Her condition, which is progressive and incurable, causes the body to attack its own nerve cells and severely impacts mobility.
Celine Dion’s older sister Claudette in December 2023 revealed that the 55-year-old singer had control over her muscles.
