A few days ago, South African successful rapper who is known now for selling out stadiums in South Africa setting precedence whilst doing that made an announcement where he told the world that he got signed to Universal Music Group to enable his music reach greater heights because as it stands now, he is not happy with selling triple platinum records in the same country as he has reached his plateau that an independent artiste could ever reach.
Cassper Nyovest iterated that he didn’t sell his soul on the just concluded deal with Universal Music as he has signed the contract not as an artiste but as a company with his Family Tree which is home to another sought after female rapper in Africa’s hip hop, Nadia Nakai.
Speaking with Zkhiphani on an exclusive interview as reported by Afro Muziki, Cassper Nyovest wants to sell platinum records in Kenya and Nigeria and any other country because he wants to dominate not only the African market but the global one as well since he has already surpassed the South African market and needs robust machine to help him achieve that.
“You know I wanna be able to have a platinum record in Kenya, have a platinum record in Nigeria and for me to do that I need people who are actually living there, like who have offices there to come and push the music, market it, distribute it.” Cassper Nyovest said about how he wants to surpass his own plateau.
If he gets to sell platinum records in other African countries other than in South Africa, he would have set another precedence that no other artiste let alone rapper has ever done before.
In just a few days, he is set to make yet another record where he intends to sell out the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban which has a capacity of 85,000 with making another record by his first ever Kwaito ‘Sweet and Short’ album going platinum in the same day.
I guess they call him Mufasa for phenomenal stuffs that he does and wants to do in the future.
