In a stunning development, Cardi B has officially filed for divorce from her husband, rapper Offset, amidst revelations that she is expecting her third child.
While Cardi B, 31, has not directly addressed her divorce on social media, she did share an intriguing post on Instagram. The photo features her on a rooftop, holding her stomach in a display meant to reveal her baby bump.
In her pregnancy announcement, which came on August 1, 2024, Cardi B expressed gratitude and optimism.
“With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you; you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!”
Alongside several stunning pictures of herself in a red dress, she noted that this journey reminded her she could balance life, love, and her passion.
“I love you so much and cannot wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do!” Cardi B concluded.
The announcement of her growing family comes just a day after she filed for divorce from Offset, 32.
According to the representative for the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper, the decision didn’t stem from infidelity rumors but had been a long time in the making.
“This is not based on any one particular incident, it has been a long time coming and is amicable,” a representative for Cardi B told Associated Press.
Cardi B is seeking primary custody of their two children, son Wave Set, 2, and daughter Kulture Kiari, 6.
Offset is also a father to sons Jordan, 14, and Kody, 8, and daughter Kalea Marie, 9, from previous relationships.
Although the divorce filing remains private, it marks a significant chapter in Cardi and Offset’s tumultuous relationship.
During an Instagram Live session in December 2023, Cardi initially confirmed her single status.
“I’ve been single for a minute now… But I have been afraid … Not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today has been, like, a sign.” She hinted that she had been dropping clues about her marital struggles, including unfollowing Offset on social media and sharing cryptic messages.
The couple has experienced an on-and-off relationship since their marriage in September 2017, frequently marred by Offset’s infidelity.
They first announced their split in 2018 but later reconciled. In September 2020, Cardi filed for divorce, a move they ultimately reversed.
As Cardi embarks on this new chapter of her life as a soon-to-be mother of three, fans are eager to see how she navigates the next phases both personally and professionally.
