Britney Spears refuses to reconcile with her father amid his ailing health and leg amputation

RnB singer Britney Spears has vowed she will never ever reconcile with her estranged father James ‘Jamie’ Spears dead or alive.

Britney’s statement came in the wake of her father’s ailing health and leg amputation.

There are growing fears for Jamie Spears’ health after it was recently revealed that he had a leg amputated in October 2012, while he was living with his youngest daughter Jamie Lynn Spears, 32, at her newly built home in Louisiana.

Britney’s father had a massive infection in one of his legs that landed him in a hospital for weeks.

“He had five unsuccessful surgeries to contain the infection, and doctors decided the only way to proceed was amputation,” a source told US media.

The 42-year-old singer refuses to forgive her father amid his health battles for hurting her in ways that are not imaginable.

Britney had appeared to hint at a possible reunion after she shared a series of throwback photos on Instagram including one with her estranged 71-year-old father.

But a source close to the singer shut down any talk of them repairing their fractured relationship and confirmed the singer is forging on with the legal battle against her father.

“There is no chance, ever, that Britney will reconcile with her dad. He hurt her in ways not imaginable and, regardless of what happens to his health, she will never forgive the man, dead or alive.

“The only reason that Britney included this photo is that she loved the picture with her son. It had nothing to do with her dad, or his health issues,” a source was quoted by Daily Mail as saying.

Britney Spears fell out with her father because of a 13-year conservatorship which was only terminated in November 2021.

On February 1, 2008, Britney was involuntarily placed under a conservatorship by Judge Reva Goetz, with her father and lawyer Andrew M. Wallet, as conservators. The conservatorship lasted until November 2021.

A conservatorship is a grant of power over an incapacitated individual (the “conservatee”) in favor of someone who the court entrusts to make decisions for the incapacitated person (the “conservator”). Depending on the type of conservatorship granted, it can be temporary or permanent. It can include authority over the conservatee’s financial decisions, personal decisions, or both.

Originally, conservatorships were designed with the elderly in mind. This is because elderly people often suffer cognitive decline and dementia, or medical conditions that render them unable to communicate their decisions.

Nevertheless, courts also grant conservatorships over younger people, such as Britney Spears, if they exhibit similar disabilities. Theoretically, it is relatively easy to obtain a temporary emergency conservatorship, but it is difficult and time-consuming to obtain a permanent conservatorship.

Britney Spears placed under a conservatorship after a series of bizarre incidents, including; shaving her head, attacking the paparazzi with an umbrella, locking herself in a room with one of her children to avoid handing them over to the child’s father.

Britney’s conservatorship would have continued indefinitely if she had not successfully petitioned the court to terminate it. During this time, she earned millions of dollars as a world-class entertainer — but she enjoyed unfettered access to none of it. She also lacked the legal autonomy to make her own decisions. During most of the period of the conservatorship, her father served as her conservator.

The musician’s behavior resulted in her being placed under 72-hour observation in a psychiatric hospital. After this event, her father petitioned for a conservatorship. The original conservatorship was temporary, but the court later made it permanent.

The court placed Britney Spears under both financial and personal conservatorships. The conservatorship was initially temporary, but the court made it permanent later. She was not entitled to make the final decision in any area of her life. Any decision she made was subject to a veto by her conservator. Nevertheless, her conservator was legally bound to act in Britney’s best interests.

Her father resigned as her personal conservator in 2019, and the court replaced him with a court-appointed professional. Nevertheless, her father remained in charge of her finances until 2021 when the court terminated the conservatorship.

Britney Spears blamed her father for the conservatorship and this strained their relationship to date.
