41-year-old singer Britney Spears is footing the bills for her 29-year-old estranged husband Sam Asghari as they have not yet finalized their divorce.
Asghari packed up his belongings and left Britney Spears after she cheated on him.
The Iranian-born Asghari is however not footing his own bills.
TMZ reported that Spears is paying $10,000/Ksh1.4 million rent a month for Asghari’s new crib in one of the most high-end apartment buildings in Los Angeles.
Sources say Asghari is unlikely to receive much from Britney Spears due to an iron-clad prenuptial agreement.
It’s thought that Spears’ team suggested paying Asghari’s rent as a kind gesture as they navigate divorce proceedings.
Asghari reportedly misses out on any money in the event of a divorce, as he and Britney Spears were only married for 14 months, and their iron-clad prenuptial agreement stated he would get $1 million for every two years that they were married.
However, sources previously told TMZ that while the prenup prevents Asghari from receiving any spousal support from Spears, he could receive a one-off cheque from the singer to prevent him from sharing any ’embarrassing information’ about their marriage.
It’s thought that the prenup features an ‘extensive confidentiality clause’ that prohibits Sam Asghari from discussing his relationship with Britney Spears.
Asghari was reportedly planning to contest the prenup by requesting spousal support and attorney’s fees, though he has denied this.
