Content creator Brenda Gathoni aka Brenda Jons has shared a deeply personal and harrowing account of the traumas that derailed her life, revealing that she was raped and molested inside the church, leading to a profound crisis of identity and faith that drove her into the LGBTQ community.
The content creator, who had previously been an active gospel preacher, released a heartfelt video on her TikTok page on Friday, December 12, 2025, detailing the catastrophic emotional turmoil she suffered after her connection with Christianity was tragically broken.
Brenda Jons traced the roots of her immense vulnerability back to the isolation and spiritual vacuum created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In 2021, I found myself in the LGBTQ community as a member. Honestly, I never imagined I would be there because the previous year, I was preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. COVID came, and I was one of those whose connection with the Lord was shaken. I felt brokenhearted and miserable,” she shared.

However, the TikToker revealed that the ultimate cause of her displacement was not the pandemic, but the horrific betrayal she suffered within the walls of the church itself.
“I just wanted a place where I felt accepted, and I found it briefly in the LGBTQ community,” she explained, adding that her trust had been completely destroyed by the men of the cloth.
“I thought I belonged, but then I was molested and later raped in the church, which shattered me completely,” she revealed, exposing the dark events that alienated her from her faith community and left her searching for solace elsewhere.

Brenda Jons explained that her confusion about intimacy had been unknowingly planted in her childhood, recalling confusing experiences during sleepovers with cousins. As an adult, these seeds resurfaced as she sought comfort and acceptance following the church trauma.
“Being with people who were also wounded made my wounds feel normal for a while,” she stated, describing the fleeting comfort she found in the LGBTQ space.
This period of vulnerability, however, led to further pain, including experiences of infidelity from a partner in the community, compounding her confusion.

Her struggles led her down a dark path of unhealthy coping mechanisms, including substance abuse and pornography.
Brenda’s life found a dramatic turning point in 2022. After months of identity confusion and addiction, she described a spiritual awakening during a moment of solitude at home.
“I struggled with identity, fell into pornography and drugs, and constantly sought connection. Then, in 2022, I found myself alone at home, something I had rarely experienced, and that night, the Lord saved me,” she asserted.

The powerful testimony has resonated deeply with followers, shedding light on how trauma and isolation can completely upend an individual’s life path and demonstrating her resilience in reclaiming her identity.
