Just days after being falsely reported as dead, renowned Tanzanian gospel singer Bonny Mwaitege has addressed the rumors, assuring his fans that he is alive and in good health.
In a video recorded from a music studio, Mwaitege expressed his shock and disbelief at the false reports of his death.
“I am completely healthy as you can see, I have not had any problems, I have not had any accidents, it is just a myth. I do not know what the source of this heresy is and who is starting this heresy from time to time,” he said.
Mwaitege revealed that this is not the first time he has been subjected to such distressing rumors and noted that other gospel artists like Bahati Bukuku and Rose Muhando have faced similar psychological abuse.
“It’s not just me alone, it’s different singers… even now if you write on the internet ‘Bonny Mwaitege’s funeral,’ you’ll see coffin, my picture and people saying goodbye, I don’t know how it happened?” he added.
The gospel artist shared that the repeated fake death announcements have pushed him to consider legal action against those responsible.
“I have been ignoring it but now I have received advice and people have also told me that it is good that I tried to follow up on this matter. I have already entrusted this matter to my legal team.”
Mwaitege explained that his previous reluctance to take action was due to his commitment as a servant of God, preferring not to engage in conflicts.
“Perhaps someone just decides to do something and says what will Mwaitege do to me? It is true that I cannot do anything because firstly I am a servant of God and secondly I don’t have time to fight with people, but I believe God will raise up people who will fight on behalf of us servants of God.”
As Mwaitege moves to address the false rumors legally, he calls on his fans to disregard the misleading information and continue supporting his music and ministry.
