Boniface Mwangi joined Kenyans to commemorate and mourn the departed souls in the August seventh 1998 terrorist attack on the America Embassy.
In an Instagram post the activist posted a photo of himself at the site of the tragedy 20 year ago just after the rescue operation had ended.
“A photo of me outside the bombed US Embassy in 1998 after the rescue operations ended. I went there with my small, point and shoot film camera after the rescue operations had ended and took images of what was left of the bombed out building. ”
The attack claimed the lives of more than 200 people. It was orchestrated by terrorist group Al Queda led by then leader Osama Bin Laden.
Kenya and the world commemorated the 20th anniversary of the attack this week in an event that elicited bitter memories and sad stories of what happened. It was and still is the worst terror attack to occur on Kenyan soil since independence.
