Bongo star Hussein Machozi recounts how he missed death by a whisker at a football pitch

Hussein Machozi commanded a huge following across the East African showbiz scene about a decade ago. The Bongo singer shot to fame when he dropped ‘Kwa Ajili Yako’ which became a big hit.

But before the glitz and glam, Hussein used to play football. The singer had a fatal accident while playing soccer that almost caused his life.

Hussein vividly recounts the incident that almost resulted to his death. He says he was knocked on the back of the head during a football exercise.

He explained that the accident happened during a corner kick, one of the players knocked him cold while struggling to get the ball.

Hussein says he bled from the nose, ears and mouth when he was hit. The singer reveals that most people thought he had died after the accident.

“Kuna siku nikiwa mkoani Kagera katika uwanja wa mazoezi wa Kagera, wakati huo nilikuwa nikiichezea Kagera Sugar B, tulikuwa tunafanya mazoezi, kama kawaida, ikatokea kona, katika harakati za kuupiga mpira nikagongwa sehemu ya nyuma ya kichwa na mwenzangu, basi palepale nilipoteza fahamu na kuanza kutoka damu puani, masikioni na mdomoni.

“Kwa jinsi nilivyosimuliwa, ni kuwa baada ya tukio lile niliwahishwa Hospitali ya Kihaka muda huohuo huku wengi wakiamini kuwa labda nimefariki, nilipofikishwa hospitalini, daktari aliyenipokea naye aliamini nimeshapoteza maisha akalipitisha hilo kuwa nimeshafariki dunia,” said Hussein Machozi.
