Bishop Allan Kiuna, renowned for his influential role as the co-founder and senior pastor of Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) in Nairobi, has passed away.
He died at a hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted after his condition deteriorated on Tuesday July 9, 2024, according to a family spokesman.
The news of Bishop Kiuna’s death brought friends and family to his home in Runda to mourn the loss.
Diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Cancer in 2018/2019, Bishop Kiuna had been battling the disease for several years.
Multiple Myeloma is a type of cancer that occurs when abnormal plasma cells build up in the bone marrow, forming tumors in many bones of the body. This accumulation of cancer cells crowds out healthy blood cells and produces abnormal proteins, leading to various complications.
Bishop Kiuna publicly shared his battle with cancer in 2019, expressing his gratitude to God for seeing him through the challenging ordeal.
The deceased had been undergoing treatment abroad and had previously shared news of his healing from cancer in 2023.
He traveled to the United States for medical care in 2022.
Despite the challenging journey, he returned to his congregation with a triumphant declaration of being cancer-free, expressing immense gratitude for the support and divine intervention he experienced.
During a Thanksgiving ceremony, Bishop Kiuna disclosed that his treatment costs had exceeded $3 million, totaling over Ksh459 million.
He emphasized that the entire amount was divinely provided, and he did not have to spend any of his own money.
“For the one year that I was in the US, my treatment cost $3 million, and I didn’t remove one coin from my pocket because the God of heaven provided. I did not call anyone,” he stated, receiving cheers from the congregation.
Bishop Kiuna is survived by his wife, Bishop Kathy Kiuna, who co-founded JCC with him. The couple launched the church in January 1999, dedicating their lives to their faith and community.
