The mother of late gospel singer Betty Bayo has dropped a shocking revelation, claiming that the singer’s seemingly perfect marriage to husband Hiram Gitau aka Tash was in fact a façade.
According to her, the couple had separated three months before Bayo’s untimely death.
Speaking during a Facebook Live with Shiru Wa Oakland on the night of Saturday, December 6, 2025, Bayo’s mother said Tash allegedly exploited her daughter’s dream of moving to the United States as a way to benefit financially, including purchasing two trucks worth about Ksh16 million with her help.
“This man is a fake. He wants to run away with everything Betty acquired, and his actions do not appear to be in the interest of her children,” she said, warning fans and authorities alike.
Bayo’s mother went further, claiming that her daughter may not have died from leukemia, as widely reported. Instead, she suggested that the real cause could have been a head injury inflicted by her husband.
“A few weeks before her death, Betty called me crying, asking who she had left her with. Tash had become a monster, beating her heavily,” her mother revealed.
The grieving parent insisted that a postmortem must be carried out to uncover the truth behind her daughter’s death, describing it as the only way to resolve lingering doubts.
Adding another layer to the controversy, Bayo’s mother claimed that Tash already has a legally married wife in the US and two young children, whom he reportedly neglects. She suggested this was the reason Tash could not marry Betty in a church ceremony.
“He could never truly commit to Betty because of the woman and children he already has in the US,” she said.
The mother’s revelations have reignited questions surrounding the singer’s tragic passing, as she continues to demand a forensic investigation into her daughter’s death and insists that Betty’s children be protected from Tash’s influence.
“Only a postmortem will tell us the truth about what happened to Betty. We want justice and clarity for her and for her children,” she concluded.
