Ben Githae was at the forefront campaigning for UhuRuto re-election in 2017. Most Kenyans feel UhuRuto duo has failed the country as hard economic time bites, and they want Githae to apologize.
Githae’s ‘Tano Tena’ song served as Jubilee party’s campaigns anthem. The song has been trending on social media reminding voters of the bad choice they made electing into power a government that has failed Kenyans.
Many people were irked by president Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent remark that he didn’t know why Kenyans are broke. Meanwhile deputy president William Ruto seems to be only concerned with 2022 succession politics.
Some people are now calling on Ben Githae to apologize to Kenyans for ‘misleading’ them with his ‘Tano Tena’ campaign song.
Githae has however stated that those who voted for Jubilee government based on the contents of his song only have themselves to blame.
The vernacular singer stressed that his song could not have driven such a huge mass towards making a decision to vote UhuRuto to office. He further said that those claiming that ‘Tano Tena’ influenced their voting patterns should instead clap for him for supporting a winning candidate.
“The president was voted for by over 8 million Kenyans, the ones claiming my song guided their choice of candidates are lying. How can such a huge mass be influenced by a person of my stature,” said Ben Githae.
The celebrated Kikuyu gospel musician further called on people who are failing president Uhuru to be ejected from his administration.
Asked whether he will compose another campaign song come 2022 general election, Ben Githae said that;
“I did Tano Tena in support of Uhuru and he shall not be seeking another term. That decision shall be guided by the dynamics of the time.”
