Bahati has joined politics officially with the sole intention of becoming the next Mathare Constituency Member of Parliament in a bid to dethrone the incumbent Member of Parliament, Anthony T. Oluoch.
Bahati who is a singer renowned for hit records that have entertained us for years on end is ready to represent Mathare not only in music but also in parliament following Jaguar’s route who become the first mainstream musician to become a Member of Parliament.
Bahati whose real name is Kevin Bahati Kioko is vying for the parliamentary position under the Jubilee Party banner as he was welcomed officially by Kanini Kega when he was unveiled as Jubilee’s candidate that will be fielded in the constituency.
Taking to social media, the singer reiterated that his candidate of choice is Rt. Raila Amolo Odinga who is vying for the Presidency under the Azimio La Umoja ticket which comprises a lot of political parties merging into one to field one presidential candidate.
The celebrated singer who is an award-winning gospel musician opened stressed that he’s best fitted to become the next Member of Parliament for Mathare Constituency because he was born in Mathare and got raised by the community who gave him a chance when he thought all was lost in his life right after his mother passed away due to lack of funds to cater for his hospital bills.
Bahati wants to give back to Mathare folks whom he has been talking about and representing them for years through his music which inspired him to start his record label dubbed Eastlands Most Beloved(EMB) due to the love and support he’s been getting from his fanbase in Mathare.
In an open letter exclusively aimed at the residents of Mathare Constituency, Bahati poured his heart out to them in a bid to convince the Mathare electorate to vote for him in the upcoming general elections as he gave his many reasons why he believes he is the best candidate for the constituency.
He shared on social media, writing;

I was Born in Mathare, I Went to Church at Redeemed Gospel Church Huruma in Mathare, I Remember when My Late Mum Lost her Life in a One- Roomed house we Lived in Ngei- Mathare just because we could not afford her Hospital admission fee 😭(Story for another Day) Despite being surrounded by Poverty;💔 My Late Mother’s Friends in Mathare still took Me in to Raise me as their Own!
