Bahati has been thrown into emotional turmoil after a woman emerged online claiming to be his biological mother — a revelation that directly contradicts the heartbreaking story he has told for years about losing her in childhood.

The unidentified woman, visibly distressed during an interview with YouTuber Nicholas Kioko, insisted she is alive and has been trying to reunite with her son for years.

The bold claim instantly set social media ablaze, with Kenyans scrambling to make sense of a story that appears to rewrite the musician’s entire past.

Bahati has often spoken about growing up in a children’s home after the death of his mother — a tragedy he says shaped both his character and his music.

He has long described the pain of attending her burial as a young boy and the loneliness that followed.

But the woman at the centre of this storm tells a dramatically different tale.

She claims she once went to the children’s home where Bahati was raised but was allegedly denied access to him, leaving her helpless and silenced.

Her comments hinted at years of unresolved misunderstandings and bureaucratic blocks that, according to her, kept mother and son apart.

Bahati responded hours later in a video posted online, admitting he was just as stunned as the rest of the country.

In typical Bahati fashion, he joked about his well-known reputation for publicity stunts — but made it clear this time he was as confused as everyone else.

“Kenyans, I know I’m the king of clout and I’ve played with you for years, but this one… aki, I’m not involved. This woman has surprised me too,” he said, visibly baffled.

Bahati questioned how the claim could even be possible, reminding viewers that he personally attended his mother’s burial when he was around seven years old.

“I witnessed that grave,” he stressed. “So now I’m just here asking myself… should I pursue a DNA?”

The singer’s dilemma has triggered a national debate, with fans torn between sympathy, scepticism, and curiosity. Many are urging him to take the DNA test for closure, while others believe the mystery woman may be seeking attention.

For now, Bahati remains caught in the middle of a deeply personal mystery — one that could upend his life story or expose a long-forgotten misunderstanding.
