NTV anchor Ken Mijungu has been unceremoniously been fired from his job just days after Babu Owino threatens to sue Nation Media group for running DJ Evolve story.
It was Mijungu who presented news on 29th June 2022 when NTV aired an exclusive interview with DJ Evolve.
In his opening remarks, Mijungu introduced the story “The only thing people know about him is that he was the victim of fatal shooting right here in Nairobi, Felix Orinda popularly known as DJ Evolve who was shot by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino…”
In his defamation lawsuit, Babu Owino claims that Mijungu’s words were meant to reprimand him in the eyes of the public with the intention being to stir up a public furore.
The Embakasi East MP further claims that the words used by Mijungu infringe on his constitutional right to a fair hearing.

Perhaps it might have dawned on NTV’s top management that Mijungu was not impartial in his reporting and thus making the station liable for defaming Babu Owino.
Taking to Twitter moments after he was fired from NTV, Ken Mijungu tweeted, “The axe fell NTV Newsroom and I was on its way. 7 years in those corridors summed up in a two-page letter of termination. We live to fight another day. Thanks to God, He remains the greatest, thank you NTV Kenya for the opportunity, and thank you for always staying tuned.”
