Babu’s nightmare week from hell for is still going on! The M.P is fighting to defend his parliamentary seat while also trying to defend himself from charges from the state of subversion that he was charged with after his comments about the president. Now the state is charging him with inflicting grievous bodily harm to a voter, Joshua Otieno Obiende, on the August of 8th 2017. Mr Otieno, a candidate, was also seeking the Embakasi East parliamentary seat on the ANC ticket.
He was also accused of using force contrary to election laws on the same day that he assaulted Mr Obiende in the company of others. The prosecution has asked that if Mr Babu is found guilty that he be jailed for life. For life! Why? Because his actions on August 8th may have been a contravention of the Constitution and Leadership and Integrity Act.
Yaani, he said a few bad words but now his whole world seems to be crushing down! Life imprisonment! Remind me to say my bad words behind closed doors! But seriously, there are few lessons to be learnt from this whole crazy affair. Those lessons I will keep to myself. The reader can surmise his/her own thoughts and come to his/her own conclusion. But what do I know, really?
