Babu Owino is a man accustomed to stirring up emotions of both fear and love. The former SONU chairman has progressed impressively in the world of politics. But I think the emotion he may now be dealing with is fear.
He may become the former if the news reaching us is true. Apparently, because he failed to respond to a petition within the stipulated time, his election win will be nullified. The suit was filed by competitor Francis Wambugu Mureithi, who had gone to the court to contest the ODM MP’s win in the August 8 elections.
According to the law, Owino was supposed to respond to the suit within seven days but he failed to do so. The deadline lapsed on Friday, September 15 and the court will now have to nullify the election and order a by-election.
