Aslay has come up with a new concept to explain what he feels caused the once-famous Yamoto Band to split a few years after it flourished under the leadership of Wasafi boss Mkubwa Fela.
Speaking during an interview with Clouds FM, Aslay said that the group members were affected by greed which sparked the breakup process.
He, however, noted that the signing of Rayvanny to Wasafi record label accelerated the split of the Yamoto band, noting that each member was motivated to do their solo projects.
Aslay remembered that when Rayvanny was introduced by Wasafi, they were on a music tour in Europe and when they saw him being introduced and handed over a luxury car, everyone felt it was time for them to go solo because the revenue they were getting as a group started to dwindle.
“Nakumbuka wakati Rayvanny anatoka, sisi tulikuwa tuko Europe Tour, huko Ulaya. Rayvanny akapewa RAV4 kipindi kile nakumbuka. Pale ndio tamaa zilianza kuja,” Aslay alieleza,” Aslay explained.
He said that he started to withdraw from the group and later everyone else also took their own path.
Aslay admitted that their former boss Mkubwa Fela tried in vain to reunite them but the Yamoto band was already sinking faster than he could salvage it.
“Alijaribu kufanya vitu kama hivyo lakini akafika muda akaona hawa watu wazima na wameshafika mahali ya kuona ni vitu vipi wanavitamani,” he said.
