By now almost everybody in east Africa knows and appreciates Aslay as a talented musician gifted with the ability to release hit songs as soon as he enters a recording studio to record a song regardless if he is recording a song alone or a collaboration record.

Aslay is not your typical musician, he is beyond your nominal musician’s expectation and you can’t put a limit to his creativity, he has surpassed that, he is a master of his craft and a connoisseur of bongo music and every artiste wants to work with him, locally and regionally.

Everything you have learned about Aslay might just be the reason why his opinion on music and musicians really matters, especially when he talks about fellow upcoming mainstream artiste like the Kenyan breakout Swahili-singing star, Masauti who everybody is talking about since he released his hit record ‘Kiboko’.

it is safe to say that Masauti is the biggest artiste to breakout to the mainstream this year with his 'Kiboko' hit record which is an anthem across east Africa by now. photo credit: Instagram/officialmasauti_

The Tanzanian ‘Natamba’ hitmaker once gave massive props to the Kenyan Boy, Masauti when the two met up in an airport when Aslay was jetting in the country a few weeks back for a show.

Aslay said this to Masauti when he arrived in Nairobi for his Lodwar show: “Masauti, fanya uje Tanzania. Unaimba mziki ambayo sijawahi kuskia hapa Nairobi, nawapenda wasanii wote wa Nairobi lakini unafanya kitu kizuri Mungu atakujalia”

Aslay has been in the music industry ever since he was a little kid, his breakout song that introduced him to the mainstream scene was 'Naenda Kusema' released a couple of years ago. photo credit: instagram/aslayihaka

Aslay has never talked about any other Kenyan musician enthusiastically the way he talked about Masauti and he has even worked with Kenyan established mainstream artiste like gospel musician, Bahati.
