The driving force behind Viola Karuri, is her belief that music should not just be heard, but experienced. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, her music is an expression of emotion, thought and culture.
Along with her latest smash adaptation of Despacito (Swahili), Viola’s body of work includes several singles: Milele (featuring Collo), Aibu (Out the door), and Y.O.L.O., as well as her debut album, Everything. She is currently working on her sophomore album.
Her live performances are a revelation of not just her amazing vocal talent, but are visually stimulating too. She has graced the stage with legendary musicians such as Jonathan Butler, Lalah Hathaway, Abraham Laboriel and Yemi Alade. She has performed at various music festival such as Blankets & Wine, Sierra Jazz Festival, Mombasa Cultural Festival and Rift Valley Music Festival. She has also played shows at notable venues in Munich, Germany, as well as in the USA, such as The Blue Note and Hard Rock Café.
