Boda boda riders have been caught in a viral video senselessly beating one of their own who was behind a spate of petty thefts around the Nairobi University area.

The irate riders cornered the thief who also operates a boda boda motorbike after he was caught stealing a phone from a passerby along the University way.

Video of the boda boda thief being beaten silly went viral on social media. But the recording stopped as the mob started pelting stones at him while baying for blood.

 

Police in Nairobi recently put on notice robbers terrorizing residents using motorcycles.

Nairobi operations commander David Apima cautioned the robbers on wheels that their days were numbered and that his team is not going to seat and watch them visit terror on Kenyans.

This comes in the wake of a wave of robberies executed by men on motorcycles.

Nairobi university student Ian Kinoti is still nursing wounds following an attack by robbers on a motorcycle in Zimmerman.

In broad daylight, the thugs attacked him, making away with his mobile phone and other valuables.

Keagan Githua, who had recently graduated from Strathmore University with a degree in Information Technology, was killed in cold blood by robbers on a motorbike who stabbed him in the chest before they fled after taking away his mobile phone.

The deceased was stabbed on October 30, 2022, at Ridgeways, Kiambu county.

Following the wave of robberies executed by men on motorcycles, President William Ruto approved the deployment of the General Service Unit (GSU) and the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) to tackle the rising cases of insecurity in Nairobi.

In a despatch from the Cabinet dated Tuesday, November 15, Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) approved the stationing of the officers as a reinforcement to the security agents patrolling the city after a meeting that was chaired by President William Ruto.
