Mercy Masika says she has come a long way to earn good money in the gospel industry having been in the game for many years.

The veteran singer noted earning good money in the gospel industry was not always the case when she joined the industry.

Money or the lack of it from the industry discouraged her at the beginning.

“There were times I would go 5 years without a song. Why? Because I felt let me just serve in the Church. Let me sing on the worship team, that’s enough. Who told me to record?” She said.

Masika was testing whether God had called her to ministry earlier in her career.

“That has been the only option in my ministry, In my mind maybe I should stop in public and go more to the church.”

“Does gospel music pay?” Masika was asked.

“Oh, it’s true. I have good money. And I earn good money every month. Apart from things like Skiza, I think I’m one of the best paid people, but for a while, there was no return on investment when I started. He said I thought I should give up music in public because you’ve put so much into the video so much travel time, you go to a place where you’re offered two thousand and you think that’s not even fat,” she said.

Masika added that at that time people did not appreciate Gospel music. He said it was normal for musicians to be paid Ksh1,000. But that things have changed and now they are making good money.

“At first it was difficult, but God has a way of encouraging you especially if you are in His will to continue. God has encouraged me even when I had no money. Now I can’t complain. I see what people are getting paid in other sectors and I’m like wow it’s good what God has done through music. It pays. Gospel music pays. You don’t have to go take off your clothes and do bad behavior to earn.. you can be dignified with your long clothes and praise God. and still make your millions every month,” Mercy Masika wrote.
