Nation Media Group’s CEO Joe Muganda who took office in July 1 2015 has took time to assure the current employees that the layoff exercise has been concluded and that there is no more sacking.
There is still tension in Nation Media Group even though Joe Muganda as assured the employees that there will be no more sacking even though most of the remaining employees have been promoted, the tension is still there according to the grapevine speculating that there are still some other eight journalists bound to get fired while uncertain number of employees are in queue to be sent home.
So far, fifteen media workers has been sent home packing including the veteran Liz Gitonga-Wanjohi who was the editor for Young Nation which is a pullout of the Sunday Nation newspaper.
Liz is honored for starting up the YouTube channel last year for Young Nation called ‘Young Nation TV’ which has picked up well. She is also the author of the biography of Veteran journalist Philip Ochieng, ‘The Fifth Columnist’ and worked as a sub on the Sunday Nation for four years.
Though she has been sacked, this might come as a disguise since now she has time to complete her PhD in Communication Studies in Moi University.
