Bongo Flava star and entrepreneur behind Crown Media, Alikiba, has addressed the controversy surrounding his radio station’s playlist, explaining the decision to play songs by competitors such as those from the Wasafi label.
Following Crown FM’s recent launch, some fans expressed discontent upon hearing songs by artists from the Wasafi label, arguing that they should not be featured on Crown FM since songs by Alikiba’s Kings Music artists are allegedly not played on Wasafi FM.
Alikiba swiftly clarified the stance of Crown FM, asserting that the station is committed to inclusivity and will not discriminate against any artist’s music. He emphasized that Crown FM is a platform for everyone, regardless of their affiliation.
Furthermore, Alikiba assured that Crown FM will continue to play songs by artists like Diamond Platnumz and Harmonize without bias, promoting equal representation of all artists.
In a direct message to Diamond, the director of Wasafi Media, Alikiba urged for mutual respect and equitable treatment among media platforms.
He expressed his satisfaction upon seeing Crown FM play Diamond’s songs and called for reciprocation from Wasafi Media to ensure fairness for all artists.
“Juzi nilifurahi sana baada ya kuona redio yangu ikicheza nyimbo za Diamond Platnumz. Ndio maana nilipokuwa nikiifungua media yangu nikasema hii ni ya kila mtu na si ya familia. Crown fm itacheza nyimbo za Diamond na Harmonize bila kubagua. Natamani pia Wasafi Media wafanye hivyo kwa wasanii wengine,” Alikiba said.
Reflecting on the broader context, Diamond recently defended Alikiba against claims that Crown Media is not associated with him.
Diamond emphasized the importance of artists diversifying into different ventures, such as media, to uplift the community and dispel outdated notions about the entertainment industry.
By advocating for fair play and inclusivity in the media landscape, Alikiba and Diamond are championing a more equitable environment for artists and encouraging collaboration across platforms.
