Alikiba has gone allegedly gone his separate ways with his former music label, Sony Music Africa.

Reportedly, the Kings Music president hinted roughly that he has terminated his contract with Rockstar4000 that was a place he called home for him and other artistes like Ommy Dimpoz, and other notable artistes in Africa.

On 20 May 2016, he signed a deal with Sony Music Africa Entertainment. He was the second African artiste to signed with the international conglomerate after Davido became the first African artiste to get signed to the label.

“My partnership with Sony Music in addition to my already very successful partnership with my management team at ROCKSTAR4000 now completes the team, and solidifies the most powerful proposition and team to take my music to even greater heights, to new audiences and fans across borders and across the world.

I’m really excited in the future of music from the African continent as its now the time for the amazing music and sounds from Africa to take over the world, and I’m excited on where this amazing partnership will be able to take my music now to fans across the continent and across the planet.” Alikiba said after signing his historic deal with Sony Music Africa Entertainment a couple of years ago.

Otile Brown starts 2021 on a high note dropping new collabo featuring Alikiba

In 2017 he became the director of Rockstar4000.

The ‘Infidèle’ hitmaker didn’t go into details about why he severed ties with the record labels.

He however hinted that the fallout came after a disagreement on how his music affairs were being handled.

Some of the agreements they were in agreement on were not fulfilled.

Once again, he didn’t get into details about the agreements he was referring to.

“To be honest, sifanyi kazi na Rockstar na Sony, nisingependa kuzungumzia sasa hivi hadi vile itakuwa official kabisa,” Alikiba stated.

Alikiba being a free agent and being independent through his record label, Kings Music, is free to release songs the way he would want to because prior to terminating his contract with Sony Music Africa and Rockstar where he was in management in the latter he used to release two songs in a year since that’s how management wanted to run their business.

In the last quarter of last year, Alikiba released two songs that were hit records, he was actually featured in all of them.

He was featured on ‘Proud of You’ by Darassa, ‘Nakupenda’ by South African deejay, DJ Sbu, and on the ‘Nibakishie’ song by Nandy and most recently, in January 2021 he was featured on Otile Brown’s hit song ‘In Love’ before releasing his latest offering ‘Infidèle’.

Clearly, an independent Alikiba is eager to release more music now than ever since he’s his own management only reporting to himself, Alikiba, and Ali Saleh Gentamilan.
