Huddah Monroe has stirred significant debate by declaring alcoholism the biggest pandemic in Kenya and across Africa.

In a series of candid Instagram stories, Huddah detailed her personal battles with alcohol and its harmful impact on society.

“These days, I drink to celebrate, not to get drunk and cause chaos. Alcohol turns me into someone else—angry, bitter, rude. Everything offends me when I’m drunk. You’d be better off smoking weed. Alcohol can make you lose everything and everyone,” she admitted.

Huddah also shared her strict stance towards people who overindulge in alcohol, revealing that she has distanced herself from them. “I cut people off, block, and delete just because they smell of alcohol. Women and men alike,” she stated.

She further explained how to identify an alcoholic, noting that they often smell of alcohol throughout the day, regardless of actual consumption.

“They smell of alcohol from morning till evening, even without drinking. It’s because the smell comes from the gut, not the mouth. They can be very clean people, but their stomachs and livers are affected.”

Huddah criticized the societal acceptance of excessive drinking, emphasizing that it has become a serious issue.

“Alcoholism is the biggest pandemic in Kenya, maybe even Africa. It’s a disease. I don’t understand why people boast about which country drinks the most as if it’s something to be proud of,” she remarked.

She continued, expressing her frustration at watching people self-destruct due to alcohol addiction.

“It’s heartbreaking to watch them self-destruct. I’m ready to buy their casket when it’s all over because addiction can only be fought by the addict themselves. Don’t stress yourself trying to change them unless they want to change.”
