Netizens expressed utter shock at Akothee’s total disregard for Luo customs and traditions when it comes to interacting with in-laws.
The controversial singer raised eyebrows with her behaviour at the Kisumu International Airport where she had gone to pick up her in-laws who are in the country to negotiate her dowry.
Akothee wore a short for the occasion which many said it was disrespectful for someone who was meeting her in-laws.
Apart from her dressing, Akothee was also seen jumping while showing her in-laws her behind.
The singer also raised eyebrows when she was seen drinking alcohol with her in-laws in the car as they drove to Kit Mikayi – a Luo shrine associated with the good fortunes.
In the vehicle, Akothee was also seen sitting with her legs spread which is inappropriate way for a woman to behave in the presence of her in-laws.
At Kit Mikayi, Akothee was seen climbing the rock formation with her in-laws, something that also didn’t go down well with arbiters of traditional values.
Akothee’s behaviour sparked uproar and condemnation from Luos and other Kenyans who are mindful of African traditional practices governing interactions with in-laws.
