The now complete Southern bypass cost the government a whopping Kes 18 billion to construct. Chinese road constructor was given the job of constructing a dual carriage from Mombasa Road to Nairobi/Nakuru highway.

Despite the huge financial cost and numerous delays and destruction, the construction of the Southern bypass caused, it was worth it after all.
