Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has just appointed Nana Gecaga as the acting Managing Director of the Kenyatta International Conference Center, KICC.
This move has seen a majority of the public online vent their complaints and anger at what they perceived to be outright nepotism. Nana Gecaga is the niece of Kenya’s president, Uhuru Kenyatta and her elder brother Jomo Gecaga is also the President’s Personal Assistant.
According to the press release Nana Gecaga had been working as a Marketing and Special Programmes advisor to the Tourism Cabinet Secretary. Her appointment to the position will last until the position is competitively and substantially filled.

Peter Wanjohi Merit or No Merit. Kenya is not a personal property where you appoint friends, relatives and cronies and I wonder if any Jubilee sycophant would defend this. However, this position will not make common “Kikuyu’s” rich as they continue being poor just like other communities.
