Blogger Martha Wanjiru from the Karatina area was arrested on Monday. The arrest came after Governor Nderitu Gachagua’s brother, Rigathi Gachagua, filed a complaint against her.
Martha was accused like most of bloggers arrested of misusing a communication gadget.
If convicted, Martha risks remaining in custody for the next seven days.
Now that blogging is becoming a threat as Kenyans get acquainted with the new way of news sharing, it is impossible to monitor or control how information is shared.
Traditional media has been seen a toothless beast that wags its tails puppeteer-ed by the who’s in the country and now, sources have turned to bloggers,because they go heavily in and all out.
Does this mean that rules and regulations will be constituted to gag bloggers and blogging?
Kenyans online are demanding that Martha is freed, surely there are other people who have done bigger ills yet they are still free, they argue, Brue Odhiambo for instance, they say.
