The video – Same Love by Art Attack – has sparked wild reactions on social media with many describing it as shameful and disgusting.

The contentious video features gays and lesbians, highlighting their struggle to gain recognition and acceptance in the society, with some of them openly engaging in intimate acts.

It further mentions some of Kenya’s known homosexuals while also highlighting some of the main critics of homosexuality.

MP Irungu Kangata stated that he had no issue being included in the video, since it depicted his position as being one of the active and vocal opponents of gay rights.

“I think they want to show I am among those opposed to gay issues. If you watch the video well, I am placed amongst those that fight against them which is true,” Mr Kang’ata clarified.

However, the legislator decried contents of the video and criticized its producers, accusing them of advocating immorality.

“I do have an issue with the song. I don’t support its contents. It should be banned. It’s immoral but my inclusion captures a reality that am opposed to gayism [sic],” he explained.

Mr Irungu Kang’ata added that he would follow up the issue, to have the music video banned from being aired in the country in an effort to affirm his spirited battle against the vice.
