There has been heated debate between Jubilee and NASA over the date given by IEBC to have the repeat elections. Raila Odinga insists that his stand remains and they will not be part of the 17 October elections if their demands are not met.

Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta says, they will go to the polls on the IEBC’s given date. Raila has issued an statement on what is expect before they can agree to participate in the polls.

He says,’One of the hallmarks of democracy is free, fair and credible elections. As Kenyans we have striven for and undertaken many reforms in our electoral system over the years.

At times we have even had to exercise our constitutional right to protest and have picketted outside the electoral commission’s offices to agitate for our rights as citizens.

The same commission that presided over the bungled elections now intends to conduct a fresh presidential poll without any amendments to or consideration of the serious shortcomings that led to the botched poll of August 8th.

We wish to reiterate that we shall not be party to a shambolic exercise and call on the IEBC to speedily carry out the much needed reforms to ensure a level playing field for all stakeholders.

Once again we would like to reassure our supporters that we shall never tire in our quest for justice, says NASA’s leader Raila Odinga.
