Kenyan hip hop scene is coming to the full fledged acknowledgement that it well deserved and with rap artistes like Nyashinski, King Kaka, Octopizzo, Juliani, Kayvo Kforce and Khaligraph Jones taking the mantle of being the well established rappers playing the upper echelon league, Kenya is going places in the hip hop scene.

That being said, these are the faces that are bound to take the hip hop music industry to the next level coming with the new flavor of trap and pure hip hop.

Barak Jacuzzi

Barak Jacuzzi is one versatile rap artiste who can flip from pure nominal rap to trap in a snap of a finger and still deliver bars. Barak Jacuzzi released his mixtape ‘The Juice Bar’ which has tremendous streams on SoundCloud.

The rapper who recently came back to Kenya to settle from America was single handendly picked by Octopizzo to join his Team Tergat Gang and together with yet another rapper Boutross Munene to release ‘Tergat Gang’ single.

This year is bound to be his year, as he just released something new and fresh and the fans are reacting postiviley to it. Y’all better watch this space for the Mo Juice maestro, Coco Ma$ta .

 

Shappaman

Shappaman does not need any introduction whatsoever, the rapper is a former member of the famed Camp Mulla’s group, he used to rock dreadlocks way back then. Today, however the rapper has since gone solo and nothing seems to stop him as his single ‘No Love’ which features Naiboi is lit and getting warm reception. 2017 is just but a number to cross off according to Shappaman’s ‘ledger’.

This is one trap lord artiste to ever graced our local scene and sounds like Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. His talent is so wanting that Octopizzo had to make him a part of the Tergat Gang alongside Barak Jacuzzi.

Milome is just on his own league I tell you, the way he raps, the way he flows and the way he got bars after bars is something out of the ordinary.

Being a member of the gospel rap group, T412 he is the single one that stands out amongst the rest and the last freestyle ‘Nasa Hao’ that he did and posted online went viral and with it proved his worth in the music industry.

2017 seem to be a promising year for the gospel rapper if he keeps up his rap prowess

 

Maluda

Maluda shook the gospel industry this year as he said that he is done with music completely. The Jericho number 10 gospel rapper made 2016 his year as he emerged the victor at the coveted Groove Awards for the Best Hip Hop Song for Easy which was a single in collaboration with Juliani.

He hasn’t made it official if he is back in the music scene or not but indeed the industry will shake if he does thus why he is in this list because there is a huge chance that he might spring back with something big this year.

After Khaligraph Jones introduced them on his Khaligraph Jones presents the Cypher part 1, Wakadinali which comprises of  Domani and Scar has been on the run for that number 1 spot on the game and there’s no huddle standing before them to achieve this, that’s how talented these two are.

If you love your local talent you sure know who Stitch Blaze is and/or his screen moniker ‘Babu Gee‘. Well, Stitch is not like any other talent on the list, he is also a well established bona-fide actor as well as a serious rapper.

After taking a brief hiatus from the music industry to complete his studies, Stitch Blaze came back with a bang to release his single ‘Baffled’ with Yviona which is something of to marvel over.

Stitch Blaze is set to take Kenya and the whole East African region ablaze this year only if he gets the right management.
