Sauti Sol are the only Kenyan musicians who have ever won MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA). The quartet won MTV EMA 2014 for Best African Act.
Nyashinski has since emulated Sauti Sol’s success, he has been riding high on hit songs like ‘Now You Know’, ‘Mungu Pekee’ and ‘Malaika’. The singer now aims at being the second musician from Kenya after Sauti Sol to win MTV EMA.
Nyashinki has been nominated for Best Africa Act in MTV EMA 2017. The singer faces stiff competition from Nigeria’s Wizkid and Davido, South Africa’s Babes Wodumo and Nasty C and Angola’s C4 Pedro.
Sauti Sol has since marshaled their fans on social media to vote for Nyashinski to make sure the Kenyan crooner wins the coveted award.
